Squid refuses to check for DNS updates even when restarted
Problem:
Squid refuses to check for DNS or site updates because it believes that the cached data is up-to-date. Even a restart does not help.
 
Solution:
Edit squid.conf and set the three DNS ttl values to very low values. Note that depending on server load, this may impact overall performance.

negative_ttl time-units
default value = 5 minutes

positive_dns_ttl time-units
default value = 6 hours

negative_dns_ttl time-units
default value = 5 minutes
