Linux: LDAP authentication not working
Problem:
LDAP directory service appears to work, but after updating LDAP authentication, either via 'euthconfig' on RH systems or manually editing /etc/ldap.conf, authentication does not work.
 
Solution:
Verify that the LDAP host is specified as an IP address and NOT a host name. For example, use 1.2.3.4 instead of 'ldap.example.com'
