Incorrect user prompt in Linux (bash)
Problem: Instead of the default "[user@hostname directory]#" prompt, the user gets a simple prompt like "bash-2.05a$".
Solution: Verify that the user's "`.bashrc`" and "`.bash_profile`" files exist, that they have not been corrupted, and that permissions/ownership is correct.
